Community Emergency Response Team

Living in California certainly has its advantages, and living in California certainly has its challenges. Living in California, we are also prone to disaster. Wildfires, mudslides, multi vehicle crashes and of course earthquakes can overwhelm trained emergency responders in an instant.  Within 5 minutes after the Northridge earthquake, available emergency resources were utilized and no longer available. Even if emergency services are available, there is no guarantee that they will be able to reach you due to impassable roadways, fallen bridges etc. We must face the fact that after a major disaster, we could be left to fend for ourselves for some time. We must be prepared!

The CERT program is designed to do just that. Prepare you to take care of yourself, your loved ones and your neighbors by doing the most good for the greatest number. Sensible Safety, Inc. recommends that all Californians meet your neighbors, make a plan, get involved and get prepared. Detailed information on the CERT program in your area can be obtained by following the link below.

Children and Guns

Regardless of how you feel about the right to have guns in the home, everyone must agree that we need to keep them out of the hands of our children. Just because you do not have a gun in your home, does not guarantee that your child will not come across one; either at a friends home, in a vacant lot around the corner or even at school. Every parent should teach their children what to do if they encounter a gun.  STOP... DON’T TOUCH... LEAVE THE AREA... TELL AN ADULT. This is the message the National Rifle Association has taught to more than 21 million children across our nation through its Eddie Eagle Gun Safe education program. For information on this program and how to teach your children about gun safety, follow the link below.
